Centered on the theme of the flower, “Language of Flowers” unfolds from the traditional lineage of still-life painting into a dialogue between contemporary art and human experience. The curatorial concept draws inspiration from the structure of a flower — roots, stems, branches, and leaves — transforming them into visual vocabularies of dots, lines, planes, and space.

Dots express rhythm and detail within the pictorial field; Lines guide the viewer’s gaze and create a sense of movement; Planes shape contrasts and mass; Space emerges through interlacing, overlapping, and proportion, revealing multiple layers of artistic expression. Together, these four formal languages form the structural foundation through which viewers enter the world of images.

Throughout history, flowers have been one of the most enduring subjects in art — transcending cultures and geography to become a universal language of shared perception and emotion. This exhibition brings together 39 artists from Taiwan, China, and Japan, presenting diverse perspectives that span different generations and cultures. It unfolds across six thematic sections: Flowers and Artistry, Flower Interpreted, Flowers in Culture, Flowers in Design, Flowers and Feminism, and Flowers and Us.

From the delicate depictions of classical painting to the formal transformations of contemporary design, Flora Spectrum traces the artistic evolution of the flower motif, guiding viewers through the rich interplay between Eastern and Western aesthetics, and inviting them to experience the boundless imagination and creative power embodied in the art of flowers.
