What truly defines the colors of Taiwan? Is it the lush green mountains, the ceaselessly flowing streams, the golden hues of dawn, the dazzling whites of noon, the fiery oranges of sunset, or the radiant glow of twilight? Perhaps it is also reflected in the changing seasons — the blossoms of spring, the fullness of summer, the harvest of autumn, and the quiet of winter. Color varies with perception; it is both a physiological experience and a cultural expression.

“In Quest for Taiwan's Palette” is a special exhibition that explores the island’s hues through a regional lens, presenting works under two main themes: The Dawn of Civilization and the Wild Nature and The Appearances from the Traditional to the Modern. From humanistic, historical, and geographical perspectives, the exhibition invites viewers to rediscover the landscapes and spirit of Taiwan.

The exhibition also integrates technology and art. The team from the Asia University College of Creative Design created dynamic video installations centered on cultural landscapes and natural landscapes, building a poetic world through the works of pioneering artists and immersing visitors in their vision. Additionally, a dedicated area features VR and animated works from the Kuo Hsueh-Hu Foundation, including The Three States of Home Gazing and The Story of the Tricolored Boats, revealing the inner life of the artist’s creative journey.

“In Quest for Taiwan's Palette” not only retraces the spiritual paths of artists as they explored Taiwan’s aesthetic identity but also allows us to see, through their eyes, how the island’s colors transform and endure over time. This is a journey of history, art, and technology, inviting audiences to experience the unique chromatic spirit of Taiwan.
